Champagne & Sparkling Wines


Sparkling wines can be made anywhere in the world and from any grape type, but Champagne can only be made in the Champagne region of France and only from three specific grape varietals. These wines are great as aperitifs but can also be sipped and savored throughout an entire meal due to their wonderful food-pairing ability.

Olivier Leflaive “les Narvaux” Meursault 2000 (France) $72
Racy citrus fruit, subtle butter and a core of mid-palate minerality are dominant in this medium-full bodied wine. The finish is persistent, fresh and rather spicy. It offers an interesting balance of power and elegance.

Domaine Caillot “Les Tessons” Meursault 2002 (France, Burgundy) $82
Rich, ripe, well-balanced, and full-bodied. Reminiscent of lemon, honey, and pear tart.  Magnificent.

Olivier Leflaive  “Les Pucelles” Puligny-Montachet 1er Cru  2003

Chateau Fonreaud 2001 (Medoc) $36
55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot
The perfect combination of grape varieties grown on a diversity of soils expresses itself with style and distinction in the wine. Chateau Fonreaud is round, full-bodied and smooth with very ripe tannins. It spreads out deliciously on the palate and has an excellent structure.

Château Hortevie 1999 (St-Julien) $42
70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc
Matured in oak barrels, Hortevie produces a stylish, elegant and refined
St-Julien that has a subtle cedarwood-scented nose and is ripe, harmonious, and balanced on the palate.

Chateau D’Aiguilhe 1999 (Cotes de Castillon) $46
80% Merlot & 20% Cabernet Franc
Dense purple color as well as a gorgeously sweet bouquet of melted chocolate, blackberries, cassis, and cherries.

Vieux Chateau Saint André 2001 (Montagne St- Emilion) $48
Merlot 75%, Cabernet Franc 20%, Cabernet Sauvignon 5%
Vineyard owned by Jean- Claude Berrouet, winemaker for Petrus.
Displays a lovely sense of energy with a soft ripe finish. Well-defined tannins maintain perfect balance with the fruit.

Chateau Beau-Site “Cru Bourgeois exceptionnel” 2001 (Saint-Estéphe) $52
69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc,
5% Petit Verdot
Very appealing aromas of cassis and a little smokiness from the oak. Beautifully structured with generous, ripe fruit.

Chateau Margaux Pavillon Rouge 2001 (Margaux) $98
75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot
This is a superb wine with fine, light structure, dark ruby color,
and rich fruit
